1. Who We Are

MedicalAlertGuide.ca ("we", "our", "us") is a Canadian lead generation and comparison service that connects individuals with licensed Canadian medical alert device providers. We are subject to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

2. Information We Collect

When you submit a quote request we collect:

  • Name - to identify you when providers contact you
  • Email address - to send a confirmation and allow providers to follow up
  • Phone number - for providers to call or text you
  • Province - to match you with providers in your region
  • Optional message - any additional information you choose to share
  • IP address and referral source - for fraud prevention and analytics
  • Consent record - the exact text you agreed to, and the date and time of your consent

We also collect anonymous traffic data (pages visited, browser type) for analytics purposes.

3. Why We Collect It (Purpose)

Your personal information is collected solely to:

  • Match you with up to three Canadian medical alert device providers in your province
  • Allow those providers to contact you with a quote
  • Send you a confirmation email acknowledging your request
  • Comply with our legal obligations and maintain consent records

We do not use your information for unrelated marketing, profiling, or automated decision-making.

4. Express Consent (CASL)

By checking the consent box on our quote form, you provide express consent under CASL for MedicalAlertGuide.ca and our partner providers to contact you by phone, email, and/or text message regarding medical alert devices and services.

We record the exact consent language, your IP address, and the date and time of consent. This record is retained for a minimum of three years as required by CASL.

You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing privacy@medicalalertguide.ca. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of communications sent before withdrawal.

5. Who We Share Your Information With

We share your name, email, phone number, province, and optional message with up to three Canadian medical alert providers who service your province. These providers receive your information solely to prepare and deliver a quote.

We do not:

  • Sell your personal information to third parties
  • Share your information with providers outside of Canada
  • Use your information for advertising or data brokering

6. Data Retention

Lead records (including consent logs) are retained for a minimum of three years to comply with CASL record-keeping requirements, then deleted or anonymized. You may request deletion of your record at any time (subject to our legal retention obligations) by contacting us at privacy@medicalalertguide.ca.

7. Security

Your information is stored on Canadian servers. We use HTTPS encryption for all data in transit and restrict access to lead data to authorized personnel only. Our admin interface is password-protected.

8. Your Rights (PIPEDA)

Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Withdraw consent and request deletion (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

To exercise any of these rights, contact: privacy@medicalalertguide.ca
